Arguably the most special reason to own a Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, was the ability to play Nintendo GameCube games via Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack. Over the past 14 months, we've seen Nintendo release monthly GameCube titles, starting with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur II. After this debuting trifecta, monthly classics would be added to the NSO GameCube every month, until March, when they ceased their monthly GameCube update pattern after Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. This slowdown became frustrating and confusing for fans, even despite new games showing up each month for Nintendo's other illustrious systems, such as the NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance. Now we've been informed that Nintendo GameCube classics are returning with Super Mario Sunshine on August 13th, it's the perfect time to ponder why we've had to wait so long for a new GameCube curio offering.
