Today, Swiss board game publisher Treeceratops announced they are developing Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game. After working with Microsoft to reach a licensing agreement, they immediately began brainstorming ideas. Over 3 years of hard work have gone into making this a game both fans of board games and the series will enjoy. I am very much excited to see the finished product as Zoo Tycoon was a game, I always had a great time playing. For those who wish to help in the funding, a Kickstarter campaign will launch on October 25th. You can find details and links specifically about the game and Kickstarter from Treeceratops down below:
Gameplay: In Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game every player (2-4, 13+) manages their own zoo and has to build enclosures, food booths, zoo shops etc. In the game you have to find the perfect balance between popularity (money/entertainment) and conservation. All players can choose from 34 species, the 22 main species are represented by more than 230 animal meeples. Each animal species (especially the main species) plays differently because they have different needs (space, group composition, biome etc.). And since demand/supply on the zoo market are different every time, every game also plays differently. The game is on the “heavy” side (euro games /120min+) and highly thematic.
If you want to get a bit more detailed information about the game, you can find this on our landing page or on BoardGameGeek:
If you want to have a close look at the game and all its components, you can do this with this professionally implemented Tabletop Simulator mod here: https://steamcommunity.
As with all our products, this game will again be produced as sustainable as possible (FSC certified, Carbon neutral, as few plastics as possible etc.)
For this game we will launch a Kickstarter campaign (October 25th). It will be our 6th Kickstarter campaign and we are certain that this campaign will once again be a big success. This is the Kickstarter link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/marcduer/zoo-tycoon-the-board-game
