The folks behind World of Tanks and World of Warplanes, Wargaming, have acquired Gas Powered Games! Not only did they pick up the company, they also picked up the team. Check it out:
Wargaming, the leading free-to-play MMO developer and publisher, today announced its agreement to acquire Seattle-based developer Gas Powered Games©, the maker of memorable and critically acclaimed franchises such as Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander and Demigod.
Wargaming will take full ownership of Gas Powered Games, bringing into its fold a contingent of veteran developers, including CEO and company founder Chris Taylor. The acquisition will further bolster Wargaming’s push into multiplatform expansion, complementing additional recent Wargaming acquisitions of Chicago-based Day 1 Studios and MMO middleware provider Big World Pty Ltd.
If you missed our podcast on the subject, Chris was hopeful on the subject, but this solves that problem for him. This will also most likely help him get the Wildman project he was aiming to complete off the ground. Congratulations to the team for landing on their feet, and good luck at your new home! Check out the PR piece below to hear a little bit about Wargaming and Gas Powered Games.
