Announced September 7, 2026: With the launch of the new Carcass Front starter box from Factory Fortress, the team behind Trench Crusade is launching a new global campaign:

“Your time has come. Your time to forge the future of Creation, be it for weal or woe, to set trembling feet on the path to salvation or consummate the act of uttermost damnation. It is the time of Operation Leviathan, our very first Trench Crusade Worldwide Campaign.”

What are we fighting for?

“On the Carcass Front, countless rival warbands have been sent to scour old battlegrounds and haunted ruins north of New Antioch in search of clues, artifacts, anything pertaining to the return of the great chained beast of the deeps, Leviathan.
The Faithful say God chained Leviathan in the deep to protect them from its terrible strength. The Fallen say Leviathan was cast down from its rightful place on the Throne of Envy in the Court of the Seven-headed Serpent, some dare whisper that Leviathan’s might could rival the Serpent, Lucifer, himself. One thing is sure, prophecy foretells that Leviathan will rise again and that event will presage the beginning of the Final Days.
Two opposed champions have set the Faithful and Fallen on the path to armageddon; Blessed Bartolomeo, The Martyr of Leviathan and War Priest Charon, The Apostate of Éire.”

Joining the Campaign

Overall, the barrier to entry for joining the campaign is very low. To play, all you have to do is fill out a form recording who won and who they were fighting for (Faithful  or Heretic), what Sector you were fighting in (this is determined by where in the world you are playing), the number of models that were taken out of action for both the winner and the loser, and an optional battle report!

“Our beloved Observers have already been organising special campaign gaming events for their respective regions to give us the state of the frontlines at the start of the campaign. Their events will continue to occur throughout the campaign and contribute heavily to the final outcomes, so support your local Observers if you can. However, we always want results from players at home, in clubs and at stores so we’ve set things up to receive results from anywhere in the world and update our campaign map throughout the campaign in light of results. The frontlines will be moving and we’ll be doing our best to report on individual games, characters and events as we hear about them with regular updates in The Trench Wire  on the campaign progress.”

What Will Happen at the End of The Carcass Front?

“The outcome of the world-wide campaign will directly impact the state of the world and events going forwards in our next campaign box. Control will shift, moving the borders on the map and evoking ringing screams from our art colleagues as the maps have to be changed. Most of all the outcome will directly impact the fates of the two opposing commanders seeking out Leviathan; Blessed Bartolomeo and War Priest Charon. One will be raised up and one will be cast down in the events that follow, but just who that will be is for you to determine on the battlefield. New Battlekit and Patrons will be created based on the results.”

It will be fascinating to see how the outcome of the campaign affects the game’s development in the future. It might be asking a lot of the creative team to use what happens in a campaign that involves hundreds (probably thousands) of games being played by people all around the world. Giving the players the reins of what can happen within the game’s universe is a crazy idea.

Having mentioned that they don't want the game to be stuck in a singular year and wanting to move the story forward, gives players a lot of incentive to play warbands on both sides of the conflict so that the game is, potentially, developed as a community. I think that will be very healthy for the game overall and encourage more people to be part of the game and community going forward.
