Those of you who have sided with the Xbox One in the coming console wars, good news! Another arrow has arrived for your internet argument quiver. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been announced, and it will be coming for Microsoft’s newest console in 2014. Those of you who are new to this series, let me sum it up for you in this snippet from the official press release: “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a unique combination of a non-linear story and an open world – a fantasy RPG focused on player choice, tactical combat and a rich, living environment.” Open-world? Non-linear story? RPG? I don’t know about you, but for me those are the words in a siren song. Better yet, this game looks like a whole lot of fun – and not just because of the above implied promise to make your character fight off a pack of hungry wolves. No, I’m talking about the gameplay trailer.
Really, I’m getting a Dragon’s Dogma vibe off this particular iteration of The Witcher, and that’s a good thing. The combat is looking absolutely phenomenal, and the way the character slices his sword into those flying beasties has me thinking this is going to be one hell of an immersive title.
