Sony Talks Plans Regarding AAA Experiences on Vita
Sony has spoken out about its strategy regarding AAA games on the PlayStation Vita.
On a post on the PlayStation Blog regarding the release of the new PlayStation Vita Slim, Don Mesa, Director of Product Planning & Platform Software Innovation at Sony Computer Entertainment America responded to a commenter that inquired about when users would see more “console-quality” titles on Sony’s latest handheld such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Killzone: Mercenary.
In response Mesa stated that “The economics simply don’t work with the traditional process” when it comes to getting AAA titles on the Vita, and that Sony needs to “do something different to get AAA games” on the device.
Mesa cited utilization of the system’s Remote Play capabilities with the PS4 and the upcoming streaming service PlayStation Now as ways that Sony is trying to get console-quality titles onto the Vita.
The Vita’s slim model, bundled with Borderlands 2, was released last week in North America.
