Larkspur, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2024) – PLAION, a global leading publisher and developer of video games, and Retro Games Ltd., one of the world’s leading producers of re-imagined home computers, are proud to announce today that The 400 Mini – a modern day mini recreation of the pioneering home computer from 1979 – will come with 25 pre-installed games. The full list is being revealed for the first time and includes some of the most iconic and important titles of the 8-bit era.
Ready to play on The 400 Mini are arcade classics such as Missile Command, and genre defining titles like M.U.L.E. Short for Multiple Use Labor Element, M.U.L.E. was a pioneering multiplayer game that inspired a generation of triple-A strategy titles. Other pre-installed games for The 400 Mini include Asteroids, Battlezone, Crystal Castles, Millipede, and Star Raiders II.
“Much like the other retro computers we’ve produced, it was important for us to make sure we included a diverse range of games with The 400 Mini. Many collectors want to preserve the art form that is video games, and we hope that our pre-installed titles will excite these gamers. Not only are many of the games historically important, but they also come bundled in a mini recreation of the design classic that is the Atari 400. We hope that retro gamers and collectors will like what we’ve put together,” said Paul Andrews, managing director at Retro Games Ltd.
“We’re excited to reveal a variety of games for The 400 Mini. From dribbling up and down the court in Basketball, to escaping caves and completing puzzles in Boulder Dash, we think they’ll be something for everyone who has a passion for retro gaming. And for these dedicated fans we’re also pleased to reveal new images that showcase both the scale and detail of our new mini recreation. For the first time clear comparisons can be made between the original Atari 400 and The 400 Mini, we really hope everyone enjoys the attention to detail,” said Stuart Chiplin, head of commercial evaluations at PLAION.
