Microsoft to Cut Work Force by 18,000 Employees

Microsoft is planning on laying off up to 18,000 employees, accounting for roughly 14% of the company’s current workforce.

According to New York Times, the majority of the cuts will come from the company’s recent acquisition of Nokia, which will account for approximately 12,500 of the laid off employees. This is around half the employees that joined Microsoft when it acquired Nokia.

If and how this will affect the company’s Xbox division is, as of yet, unclear.

We at Gaming Trend wish those affected the best.
