Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced yesterday that .hack//G.U. Last Recode will be released later this year. The remastered collection collects the entire .hack//G.U. trilogy, and will be released on PlayStation 4 and Steam with updated features.

The .hack franchise all revolves around The World, an in-universe MMORPG with mysterious events occurring regularly within the game. .hack//G.U. begins after the events of the original .hack series with players assuming the role of Haseo as he tracks down a powerful Player Killer named Tri-Edge who killed his friend’s in-game avatar Shino, and put her into a coma in real life. These three games flesh out the .hack series while also providing more lore to the characters and The World.

“The .hack series continues to be one of the most requested titles we hear about from our community,” said Dennis Lee, Brand Marketing Director for Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. “We are very excited for these fans to return to The World and experience .hack//G.U. like never before with .hack//G.U. Last Recode!”

.hack//G.U. Last Recode includes all three games (Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption) in the original PS2 trilogy, but will include enhanced battle balance and game pacing to provide a better in-game experience. Additionally, the game will include a cheat mode for players who wish to enjoy the story with full stats from the very beginning. The collection will have updated 1080p resolution, 16:9 widescreen, and run at 60 fps.

.hack//G.U. Last Recode will be released later this year on PlayStation 4 and PC. Check out the gallery above for the trailer and some screens, and stay tuned for more news here on Gaming Trend.
