Frostpunk brings its frozen city to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

New London was never meant to be a handheld problem. Now you can make impossible decisions on the couch, on the bus, or anywhere the heat holds out.

Ever wanted to run a city at the end of the world while sitting in bed? Your wish has been granted, and your people are already complaining about the cold.

Frostpunk, the 2018 survival city builder from 11 bit studios, arrived on Nintendo Switch on October 19, with full support for Nintendo Switch 2.

If you missed it the first time around, Frostpunk is all about making impossible decisions and living with the consequences. It blends strategy gameplay with a gritty story of humanity's survival, and it earned its place as a genre-defining hit.

Two ways into the cold

The Switch release comes in two versions. The Base Game ships with a 30% launch discount, while the Complete Edition gets a 35% launch discount and includes three DLC packs: The Rifts, The Last Autumn and On The Edge.

Whichever you pick, the job stays the same. You are the leader, the city needs heat, and every choice costs somebody something.

What you'll be deciding

  • Make the law: set rules for work routines, healthcare, food provision and other parts of everyday life.
  • Shape your society: at each turning point, rule with an iron fist or show your people a way of compassion and faith.
  • Develop new technologies: react to current events without losing sight of the long term.
  • Explore the Frostlands: expeditions are risky, but can bring intel, supplies and more survivors.
  • Play endlessly: Endless Mode adds replayability, and Serenity Mode lets you focus on building the city without the pressure.

Your people put their faith in you, but their devotion is not limitless. Leadership can be a burden.
