Free Borderlands 2 DLC sets the stage for Borderlands 3

Right now, players can get their hands on some fresh, new Borderlands 2 content in the form of Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, a free DLC update that bridges the gap between the game and the upcoming Borderlands 3. It looks like the DLC will only be available for owners of Borderlands 2 or the Handsome Collection on the current generation of console, however. Players have until July 8th to snag their free DLC.

As you might expect from the title, the new content centers on (arguably) everyone’s favorite siren and the Crimson Raiders as they fight to repel a siege on their safe haven of Sanctuary. On top of some new zones and bosses, players can enjoy a level cap increase to 80. Oh, and a new loot tier above legendary called “Effervescence.”

It’s recommended that players have the main story completed before tackling the DLC. Luckily, Borderlands 2 is also offering free jumps to level 30 for anyone who just wants to dive right into the content without fighting their way through the main story for the 100th time.

Borderlands 3 is also at E3 this year; you can read more about here.
