There appears to be trouble headed for Driveclub developer Evolution Studios, as two sources have told Eurogamer that the studio is set to lose 55 members of its staff to layoffs.
The 55 members in question account for roughly half of Evolution’s staff, but some may be kept as contractors. This restructuring of the studio comes from a desire to shift focus to Driveclub “as a service,” meaning development on the PlayStation Plus edition.
Originally set to launch alongside the PlayStation 4 in 2013, Driveclub was released in October of 2014 with server issues that led to the delay of the PlayStation Plus version of the racing game, which still hasn’t been released. Evolution is a first party Sony studio that has previously worked on the Motorstorm franchise.
