Archangel: Hellfire goes off-rails, bringing more mechs, more maps, and PVP this June

Skydance Interactive today announced Archangel: Hellfire, an update which will bring a host of new features to its VR mech war game on June 28th. This upgrade comes ready for action with an all new off-rails experience, a Player vs. Environment (PvE) horde mode, a much-anticipated  Player vs. Player (PvP) mode, as well as all-new maps, new classes of mechs, and more. Available on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, the Hellfire update will be free for all current Archangel owners, who can take advantage of some advance training by jumping into the new PVP mode starting May 25th. If you haven’t yet picked up a copy of Arhangel, not to worry; the base game will soon be available at a discounted price.

“Archangel: Hellfire will deliver the most intense and immersive multiplayer mech combat that players have ever experienced. The team is working hard to bring the player-versus-player off-rails combat that fans have been asking for, and really embody that fantasy of piloting a giant building-sized mech. And with the free Team PvP multiplayer experience, all VR gamers will soon have a chance to hop into the cockpit and prove their mettle.” – Peter Akemann, President of Skydance Interactive

We’ve talked about Archangel a few times, giving it a score of 85, and discussing how it stirs up nostalgia for everything from Transformers to Pacific Rim, from Gundam Wing to Ready Player One, though we were disappointed by the lack of ability to battle another giant robot. It’s Hellfire to the rescue, where the new PVP mode will allow you and another pilot to team up and align yourselves with either the United States Free Forces or the HUMNX corporation to battle for control of post-apocalyptic America via your six-story mechs. Hellfire also brings four new, highly destructible maps, six new warrior mechs, three distinct classes, each with their own powerful abilities and custom weapon systems, and all-new, fully functional cockpit controls. You can take on these maps solo, or use the new multiplayer system to go PVE with a friend.

If Hellfire leaves you wanting to learn more, you can visit the the official Skydance Interactive site, add Archangel to your wishlist at the Steam store, or check out our review of the PSVR release.
