4361  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where is OO? on: December 29, 2004, 01:08:04 AM
Quote from: "Lee"
I post over there more because I am not a console gamer and the Off Topic is a bit more active on OO, but I visit both. The double posts do get old though. I wish the community would have moved as a whole instead of splitting.

well, at one point everyone liked CG and thought of it as their new home., but GG mods didn't like the fact that they were powerless, started their own forum.  Many people wanted R&P and left. and the rest is history smile

I split my time at both.  At first I didn't like the idea, but I ended up missing a lot of people.  So I just visit both sites

4364  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / ESPN College Hoops 2k5 - Impressions on: December 25, 2004, 07:29:58 AM
alright I got this for xmas.  I hate college sports, mainly cuz I'm not familiar with the teams and don't really root for one, but when the other NBA games suck so bad, I got desperate and put this on my list.  Holy shit this game is awesome finally a game that's done right this year.

I haven't really read the manual so maybe you can help a lazy gamer.

What's the trick on freethrows.    My gamepad vibrates like a pulse, is that supposed to mean something?

When I start a legacy mode, how come I can join any team I like?  Do you start at the bottom and work your way up based on reputation and such?

How do you do an ally-oop?

Think that's it for now.
4365  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / LotR: Battle for Middle Earth - First Impressions on: December 24, 2004, 12:16:31 AM
The main thing I don't like about the game is the unit carryover.  I'm towards the end or maybe just pass the middle and I rarely have to build any units now.  I just have 280+ units already at my disposal, and rarely die.  It's just too easy now

4371  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Netflix - Christmas delays? on: December 21, 2004, 01:16:56 AM
i think it took an extra day.  I'm not gonna complain, I mean how many times have they delivered the dvd's to me faster than expected?  Almost every shipment.

If if becomes a regular thing, you'll just have to plan it better.  Meaning, don't send back both dvd's at the same time, send one right after you finish watching it, then watch the next dvd.  Unless you're a couch potatoe and watch all 3 dvds in one sitting, well, get a life biggrin  Just kidding smile

Seriously, keep that type of junk out this threads and related threads.  If you want to make a vs thread,  please make a new thread or preferably find the previous ones.

well it's not griefing, since it can't attack or kill anyone, unless you initiate the attack.  So if some big as mob is walking around in goldshire, already aggrod on the guy who trained it there, and you decided to take a stab, and eventually die, well that's your own fault.  It's not like, he brought it there and it went beserk on everybody.

On page 16 on that thread a blizzard employee talks about that

how is it cheating, when there were no rules set in place for it, at the time of said steroids were taken.  If they done it now, yes it would be cheating.  But before that it wasn't an illegal substance yet.

I'm sorry. You can't be serious. When did taking illegal substances not become cheating?

I say illegal, in the sense they weren't prescribed by a physician, or obtained from a pharmacy. They were given to the athletes by their "trainers" and other "associates". They cheated, and knew it. Period.

They can all kiss my ass. I lost faith in baseball when Selig became commissioner. Then, to even further sour me on the game, he actually listened to that low-life, scum sucking, lying, cheating, piece of shit Pete Rose's attempt to be reinstated. You have got to be kidding me. Shoeless Joe is still banned (there's no proof he actually tried to throw the Series, it looks like he just took the money) after almost 80 years, and someone is considering letting Pete Rose in after 15 years. Riiiiiight. Good call idiot. Selig and the current ilk in the game can bite me.

The latest news is that Donald Fehr and the players union are attempting to implement very strict anti-steroid language in the current collective bargaining agreement, with penalties for a 1st offense. That's nice, but the only reason they're doing it is because John McCain is threatening Federal Legislation on Baseball if they don't do something internally. I don't care how it's done, just do it. Get these bombers off the 'roids, and let's see what 162+ games actually does to a power hitter like Bonds. The 'roids don't help him hit more, but they do enable him to heal faster, and be healthier at the end of the year.

I am absolutely fascinated by the game of baseball. Have been since I was 4 years old. Alot of people don't really like it, but it's one of my favorite memories when I was a kid. I still remember the Major League Game of the Week. It was the ONLY game on. No WTBS, WGN and the like. If you wanted to see baseball, you had 1 game on the weekend, and the rest on radio. Great times.

I think I may have heard something incorrectly on the radio.  I thought I heard one of the sports casters say that back when they supposedly used steroids, it wasn't illegal at the time.

Just got the following email..

Quote
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying one of the best years ever for PC gaming.

On the eve of one of our own major releases, The Lord of the Rings™, The Battle for Middle-earth™, the one thing we've grown to understand is how important the community - our most loyal supporters - is for industry. This started back in our days at Westwood where the community for our games has always been a big priority. We understand that you are the most important and influential group for us and we are constantly amazed at the amount of talent used to create quality assets and mods.

Having said that, we have a MAJOR announcement to make and we are making it exclusively to our long time C&C fans. This announcement is not going out to the press and it won't appear on the EA website or anywhere else online. We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer™ Red Alert 2™, Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge™, and Command & Conquer™ Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe!

As I mentioned, we're very proud to ship what we feel is one of the best RTS games ever released. Most of you have probably heard of The Lord of the Rings™, The Battle for Middle-earth™ which hits stores this week. We've introduced some really innovative features and gameplay mechanics, which you should definitely check out when you get a chance. You will also see a major enhancement to the Sage graphics engine we originally created for Command & Conquer Generals. Expect us to leverage and continue to evolve this powerful engine as we start work on our new Command & Conquer game.

Thanks again for all your support over the years. This entire team is incredibly excited to work on the next Command & Conquer chapter. Look for an official announcement soon and have a wonderful holiday.

I was blown away on that tram ride.  Talk about atmosphere galore.  I kept thinking, why do I want to get in one of these things, it's going to immobilize me and take control.  I kept thinking about Matrix, do i want to take the right tram, or left tram... (red vs blue pill)

Anyways, quite a game, still wish the story was more upfront with you as you go along.

The Theatrical cut and the director's cut is on the same dvd.  So if you missed it back then, you can see for yourself now.

I've seen Riddick twice now in the theatres and just finished watching the director's cut.  The extra scenes makes it a lot better.

all you have to do is right click on the network icon in your system tray and select disable.  This disables your internet, and it will bypass steam.

I don't see why that's so difficult smile
