4361  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / 24 just gets better and better... on: February 15, 2005, 01:42:13 PM

I loved that opening.

Sadly, I got called away during Edgar's last scene regarding his mom. I started watching again when Jack & Tony arrived to see Behrooz and his dad running away. If anyone could fill me in on what happened, was Audrey able to get someone to help her, I'd appreciate it. I know the ending showed the mom still there watching TV, but is she stuck or just waiting for someone to get there?

Edgar found out nobody could help his mom, so he took his jacket and headed for the door.  Drisco saw him leaving and managaed to convince him to stay, because ...... wait for it....... that's what his mother would want him to do.

It's just too cheesy and doesn't really need to be on the show.

Yes it was a winnable game, and yes players on the Eagles team were making excuses.  Ask Freddie Mitchell and Fraley

If that's what you need to think to get through the day...<shrug>

Please tell me, what does Fraley telling the media that McNabb was sick during the 4th qtr mean then?  Especially now that McNabb has already said he wasn't sick.

Please tell me why was Freddie the Big Mouth Mitchell telling the media that he had to pick some of the plays because McNabb was so sick.

Please, read that article, then get back to me.

They're called excuses.
4373  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 02/09/05 HOLY CRAP!!! on: February 10, 2005, 06:11:19 AM
wow, i thought this was one of the better ones.  That means next week will be slow.  This show has terrible pacing, and the reruns doesn't help it either.

This show unlike last nights 24, is unpredictable.  I had no idea Charlie was going go postal on the guy.

Hey Scott,
   Why didn't Reid pull  Donovan?
Nobody wants to see Koy Detmer play.

Quote from: "naednek"
I don't buy the sick excuse.  Just another excuse.  Reid already stated why they didn't go in hurry up mode, he thought Mcnabb was too anxious/excited, and wanted him to calm down.  The thing is, he was that way all game, he should have made some sort of adjustment way earlier in the game.

Eagles lost fair and square.

This is not grasping for excuses.
Eagles fans analyze what went wrong, and try and guess how Reid and co will address the problems. That's the great thing about Lurie as opposed to Braman. He'll spend the money, Reid will pick the players, and, based on the past six years, the team will be stronger next year.
This team doesn't make up excuses as to why they lost.

Yes, the Eagles lost the Super Bowl.

By three points.

I'd say that was a winnable game. biggrin

Yes it was a winnable game, and yes players on the Eagles team were making excuses.  Ask Freddie Mitchell and Fraley

I have the movie pass with blockbuster, I can go in every day and take out 2 movies for as long as I want.  Assuming I did this 7 days a week that is 60 movie rentals for I think it's either $19.99 or $24.99.  With no waiting for the postal service.

Man this game gets better and better.  I'm sitting in jail right now listening to the three inmates bicker at each other.

Kaigen on #GG seems to think that the bandit's voice is low quality.  It does sound muffled, but I think it's supposed to be that way.
4379  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Anyone have any problems with this ad? on: February 09, 2005, 01:52:08 AM
I saw a banner that is advertising a height growth supplement and they are gearing it towards 12-25 year olds.

http://www.heightmax.com/reasontotry.htm

I just think it's a bad idea for a 12 -18 year old taking a so called height enhancing to someone who still developing.

Maybe it's my conservatism showing, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

just got the game today, i loved how all the chickens would run inside their homes/businesses when I started slapping them.  they wouldn't let me in until I calmed down biggrin

So far pretty fun, but I'm getting the spiderman 2 vibe.  Fun for the first few hours, then you realize how repetitive and shallow the game is.

I'm hoping that's not the case, because it has loads of atmosphere.

You can blame the Eagles lost on 3 factors

1:  Patriots Defense (turnovers)
2:  Lack of running game
3:  Terrible, Terrible time management.

My biggest gripe:

The fact that you still can't save mid-game in the majority of sports games out there today.  Wth?  I don't always have 30min to play an entire game of football/hockey/basketball/whatever - it would be nice to quit and anytime and pick the game back up where I left off later...

You should have picked up the superior Madden 2005.  You could save anywhere

4392  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Act of War: Direct Action on: January 22, 2005, 09:12:37 AM
This game came under the radar for me.  Based on the front page of gamespot on the PC Section, I would have thought it was a FPS/Battlefield 1942 type of game.  It's actually an RTS and it's pretty damn cool.  It reminds me of Command and Conqueror.

Here's a preview, and if you click on the download section, you can download the demo.  However, it's pretty big, it's over 600 megs.  But there's videos involved and the mission is pretty big.

Some of the things I liked were:

Able to capture enemy soldiers.
Airstrikes
The use of cover
Unit animation
Graphics

THere's some buggy moments in the game.  Afterall it is a demo.  I don't like when you build a unit, the unit will come out of the building and stand right next to the building, making it hard to see.  The fix, change the ralley point.

Units are sometimes unresponsive.

Anyways, if you're interested, check it out..

4399  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Battle for Middle Earth on: January 18, 2005, 06:11:15 AM
yes I played and finished the game.  You can ask orpheo, duroudx (or however his name is spelled), vidiot, and Kaigen.  If you want me to post spoilers on the weak story, I'll do it, if I have to prove to you I know what I'm talking about.  Not only did it have a weak story, the voice acting was atrocious, probably one of the worst I've seen.

It's called opinions.  I didn't say the game was bad, I said I thought BFME was better.  I'm sorry you don't agree.  BFME isn't perfect by no means, however I'm having more fun with it.  Both games do nothing new, both games have a weak single player element, but out of the two, I like BFME more.

If you hover your mouse over the unit build icon (go to your unit building (different on each race) and hover your mouse over the unit you want to build.  It will tell you what that unit is weak against, and what they are great at.  If I remember correctly, archers are good against them.
4400  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I never thought I say this about Gamepro... on: January 18, 2005, 02:17:54 AM
when you compare it to PC standards, Halo 2 and the original, is mediocre at best.  When you compare Halo 2 to Riddick, it's also mediocre.  However, while I didn't care for it, it has done well in the multiplayer department for the xbox.

But overall without the hype, it's a mediocre game, that offers nothing new.
