Before my experience with the TOZO HT2 headset, I was unfamiliar with the brand. I was so happy with the budget-friendly noise-cancelling headset, though, that I wanted to pivot and see what the company could offer regarding earbuds. This led me to their Golden X1 model, and after extended use, I continue to be happy with the products TOZO is producing.

Looking at TOZO’s website, I wasn’t initially comfortable with the price point for the Golden X1 earbuds. $130 for a set of earbuds feels like a proud premium, especially when mainline competitors offer their products for a few bucks less. After my time with them, though, I feel that ask is perfectly reasonable, especially when you consider that some competitors offer arguably less value in the end.
Let’s start with the unboxing experience. The TOZO Golden X1 comes in sturdy, compact black packaging featuring a photo of the earbuds with the product name and technology licensing iconography in a stark yellow/gold that really pops. Taking the plastic off and sliding the outer sleeve down reveals a high-quality, thick black cardboard box with the TOZO name and website embossed in gold in the center. Opening the box, we see the earbuds nestled in a foam insert just above a pill-shaped carrying case that doubles as a charging station. To the right, in a molded plastic case, sit five additional pairs of rubber earbuds of different sizes to ensure all ears will have a comfortable fit. Packed below the extra earbuds is a USB-C charging cable.

Now that we have everything we need out of the box and into our hands, let’s get to the particulars, starting with the charging case. I normally wouldn’t feel the need to call this out separately, as most cases largely serve the same purpose - a storage container with a battery to keep your headphones ready for any occasion. While the TOZO Golden X1 charging case serves that same purpose, it has some nice features I wanted to highlight.
Other earbuds I’ve seen have utilitarian cases that do what they’re designed for with no bells or whistles. TOZO wasn’t satisfied to stop there, though. The Golden X1 case features an LED indicator that shows you how far along it is while charging: orange breathing indicates less than 20% battery, white breathing indicates more than 20%, and a solid white light means it’s fully charged.
Even more useful to me is a digital readout situated in the bottom center, between where the two earbuds are stored. It gives you the amount of battery left in the charging dock on a percentage level. Where the LED gives an at-a-glance ballpark number, the digital readout is precise, letting you know just how much juice you have left before you’ll need to be near a power outlet. The case itself is also sturdy, encased in premium plastic with a satisfying matte black finish.

Now that we’ve gotten everything else out of the way, let’s dig into the earbuds themselves. Whether you like EDM, Mozart, Taylor Swift, audiobooks, or podcasts, TOZO’s Golden X1 earbuds have excellent sound quality thanks to a custom armature drive unit that aids high frequencies and powerful 12Hz bass, thanks to a high-amplitude dynamic driver designed solely for the Golden X1. TLDR, you get beautiful, crisp highs and deep, thunderous lows. Thanks to TOZO’s sound experts, the Golden X1 features their ORIGX Pro technology that brings “a specific sound curve to a variety of listening preferences.” They also feature hi-res audio, which can essentially give you 3x the audio data of a standard Bluetooth device. A lot of that is sort of proprietary marketing speak to say this: at the end of the day, virtually everything sounds great on it regardless of tone, pitch, or quality. These are built for folks who thrive on listening being an excellent experience.

They’re a fairly standard ergonomic design with a little extra depth for comfort within the ear. Each is coated in the same matte black plastic as the charging case. The exterior-most layer has a small plastic tab built in at a 45° diagonal down-forward-facing direction, which is used to place and situate the units in your ears for the best fit and sound. Should you need to adjust the size of the buds themselves, you can easily change them out with one of the previously-mentioned 5 extra pairs quickly and easily.
From a functionality perspective, each earbud is equipped with a capacitive touch control that corresponds to a handful of different functions. Whether it’s adjusting the volume, answering or ending a call, playing and skipping songs, or adjusting the very handy active noise cancellation feature, everything is at your fingertips without needing direct interaction with your device. That said, TOZO does provide a mobile application that lets you access and customize the earbuds’ equalization with a greater range of precision.

There are no bones about it. The TOZO Golden X1 earbuds are expensive enough that they won’t likely be an impulse buy for many. Those who take the time to research the experience they want, though, will find the price to be justified by the product. If you want earbuds with a great listening experience and premium features from a company that cares about what goes in your ears, you should give the Golden X1 serious consideration.
TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds
Great
The TOZO Golden X1s are great earbuds with some nice features. While they’re a little more on the expensive side, the quality and experience prove the asking price to be more than reasonable. While prolonged comfort may be an issue for some, TOZO has tried to mitigate that with several sizing options included in the package. With great sound quality and stout battery life, you’ll be ready to come up for air long before your Golden X1s are. If you’re in the market for a great set of high-quality earbuds, the TOZO Golden X1s are an excellent choice.
