Jedi Master Kit Fisto, his Padawan-turned-Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb, Commander Fil, and his Clone Troopers are available to play in Star Wars Shatterpoint through the Requesting Your Surrender Squad Pack. The squad, and the name of the pack, come from The Clone Wars episode “Lair of Grievous” where Kit and company infiltrate… (pause for dramatic effect)... the Lair of General Grievous. The Jedi and Clones are eager and aggressive to take down Grievous, who is being unknowingly tested by Count Dooku to prove his loyalty to the Separatists. The pack includes one primary unit, two secondary units, and one supporting unit. Let’s see what they can do!
Unboxing

The whole squad comes on a single sprue, and includes 8 bases, only 5 of which you need. Assembly is pretty easy, but you’ll want to follow the order for Fisto and Vebb, specifically for Kit Fisto’s head and Vebb’s arms and cape. You’ll see that Fisto’s head is a three-part assembly, so mind the head tails.

Fisto’s base is not the Snitch from Harry Potter, but instead the helmet and horns from General Grievous’s pet Gor - a massive, armored, roggwart whom he cares for deeply.
The figures assembly pretty quickly and I got them all assembled and ready for priming within 20 minutes. As with all of my other Shatterpoint miniatures, I prime the figures separately from the bases- I use double sided tape and some extras bases which helps when it comes time to prime and paint them.
There are plenty of gaps in the Jedi, especially on Vebb’s cloak, so you’ll want to fill those in before painting.

Cards & Abilities

Jedi Master Kit Fisto
Kit Fisto brings a lot for 8 SP and 3 Force. He has Force Speed and Supporting Force, for added movement for he and the squad, and Riposte, for punishing an opponent’s bad attack rolls. His signature move, ‘I’m Afraid I must Request Your Surrender’ is really cool because it compliments whichever form he has chosen; either Form I Shii-Cho (defensive) or Form IV Ataru (offensive). Regarding his stances, the Shii-Cho take a more balanced approach with both dice rolling and conversion - this feels very consistent. The Ataru stance boasts a whopping 9 dice for attack, but this does lower his defense.

Nahdar Vebb, Jedi Knight
Nadarr Vebb, eager to prove himself as a newly minted Jedi Knight, is a 5PC Secondary Unit. His cost is justified, however, as he brings a lot to the table with a card full of abilities, and a stance card that boasts a lot of offensive and healing. Something to note is that his ‘I Will Hold Them Off’ ability adds 3 dice when attacking a Primary character, which brings his total to 10 dice. Getting 5 attack expertise is pretty likely, which means he gets to convert them to 4 critical hits. Ouch!

CC-3714 Clone Commander Fil
CC-3714 Clone Commander Fil is also a secondary Unit. He costs 3PC (which is great for Mace Windu!) and brings a lot for his cost. Like Vebb, Fil likes picking on Primary characters, but he also likes moving around the board and keeping allies from suffering conditions. Certainly well-rounded in his dice stats and tree, Fil can help fill that awkward 3PC gap for Republic squads.

Fil's Clones
Unlike other Clone Trooper battalions in the universe, like the 212th, 42nd, or 501st, Commander Fil’s Clone Troopers are simply designated ‘Fil’s Clones.’ Not that it really matters because (spoilers) they don’t stay around that long in the episode. However, in this game, for 3PC (again, yay for Mace!), they have some staying power. Their combat tree allows some modest healing, but they can also heal others with their ‘Supporting Fire’ which is great for keeping your Primary or heavy-hitting Secondary alive. They too can bump up their attack by 2 dice when attacking a Primary, so a 9-die ranged attack coming from a Supporting Unit is not something to ignore.
Even though these are solid units, with a potential for a lot of power, be wary. As Yoda says in the episode "To answer power with power, the Jedi way, this is not." Solely focusing on attacking enemy units at the expense of playing the objectives can cost you victory.
Requesting Your Surrender Squad Pack
Great
If you’re like Nahdar Vebb and want to go toe-to-toe with your opponent’s Primary characters and roll lots of dice, this pack is for you. Commander Fil and his Clones are really great 3PC units for Galactic Republic Squads. Kit Fisto is an iconic Jedi General who will likely see lots of play for those combat-centric teams.
Pros
- Kit Fisto, the guy who basically saved C-3PO on Geonosis
- 2, 3PC Units that bring a lot for little cost.
- Units that do well against tougher Primaries.
- Phase 1 Clone Trooper Armor on the models
Cons
- Kit Fisto’s base - I guess it’s better than a tactical rock?
- You can’t play Vebb and Commander Fil in the same squad.
