Shatterpoint is a game that requires players to focus on the objective rather than just going for kills, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make wounding and eliminating enemies a key part of your strategy. If that sounds like your jam, Count Dooku and friends are here for you.

Count Dooku himself is a Primary Unit with 7 squad points. His Force Mastery combat tree can deal a lot of damage and has access to most of the negative status effects. Combine that with his melee and ranged attacks adding almost entirely critical strikes, and he can devastate an enemy in a single attack. Flip to Form II Makashi, dual-wielding lightsabers, and he can lay out a huge 10 damage attack while also expertly turning enemy crits into misses on defense. For his skills, you get a little bit of extra movement for Separatist units, but more interesting is the combination of Surely You Can Do Better and Twice The Pride, Double the Fall. If you’ve got a decent pool of Force Points available, you can essentially force an enemy to miss, then punish them with an additional 5 dice attack. Dooku has a lot of damage potential, and dishing out Force Lightning attacks before engaging in a skillful duel feels very thematically appropriate.

Jango Fett is the Secondary Unit included in the box. He can benefit from the Separatists keyword when played with Dooku and the MagnaGuards, but true to his bounty hunter nature, he can fit into any squad. Skills like Jet Pack and Capture Wire give him easy access to objectives on terrain, and pulling an enemy off an objective can be a Struggle Winning action. Once he is in the fight, he punishes everyone around him with Not So Fast, getting a 5-dice attack on every enemy unit that activates near him at the low cost of a single Force Point. Good damage and multiple extra jumps in his combat tree make him extremely mobile, while Beskar Armor provides lots of extra blocks for low Expertise. He doesn’t exactly support your other units with any of his abilities, but is a reliable damage dealer that can slot into most squads.

Last but not least, we have a pair of MagnaGuards as Supporting Units. You can pretty much only play these guys with a Separatists Primary Character, but if you do they are wonderful support. Protection Protocols allow them to easily keep up with your Primary Unit and stay close by, providing Cover with Bodyguard and even completely preventing attacks on your Primary and Secondary Units if the enemy is engaged with the MagnaGuards. Their Electrostaff attacks have high crit output and damage potential, and several shoves to get targets away. The downside is that they have no ranged attack at all and mediocre defense. You’ll want to close the distance on enemies quickly and keep them engaged to get the most out of the MagnaGuards. I do have to mention, assembly of the arms and legs is similarly miserable to the B1s in the core set, though slightly better since the MagnaGuards are a tad bigger.

Shatterpoint: Twice the Pride Squad Pack
Great
Twice the Pride is a great Squad Pack. Jango Fett is extremely versatile and Dooku and the MagnaGuards are fun tools to target key enemy units as long as you don’t forget you need to play the objective to win.
Pros
- Thematic unit skills
- Good set for those wanting more of a kill strategy
- Jango Fett can fit a lot of squads
Cons
- Droid assembly remains painful
