Marvel Crisis Protocol X-Force Review

The leaders and front line for X-Force return to Marvel Crisis Protocol in an affiliation pack!

Cable is pretty much my favorite mutant character in the Marvel Universe. Man out of time, uncontrollable metallic virus, unheard levels of psychic powers, big guns, big pouches... I loved the look and feel of him, and even before I played MCP, I had purchased a Cable model just to paint.

Marvel: Crisis Protocol - X-Force Affiliation Pack
Resistance comes to Marvel: Crisis Protocol with the X-Force Affiliation Pack. This box includes highly detailed miniatures for Cable, Domino, X-23, and Honey Badger. With Chraacter Stat Cards and Team Tactic Cards to match, the X-Force will take out any foe that endangers mutant-kind. The X-Force Affiliation Pack is a

Now, AMG has gifted all of us the return of Cable by giving us more X-Force members, including X-23, Honey Badger, and Domino in the X-Force Affiliation Pack!

The box includes what you expect: 4 models, 4 character cards, and 5 team tactic cards.

Model building did get a little rough this time around, as both X-23 and Honey Badger have tiny parts, so try your best and be patient. With these older models, sprue goo tends to be a life saver. Laura's pose is also a little odd (she has one connection point). Just be patient, and the models will stick! Since I've painted Domino and Cable before, I didn't see a need to rebuild the models yet.

For the characters themselves, let's dig in!

First off, the team itself—like other affiliation boxes—tends to be a whole team in a box. With threat levels of 5, 3, 3, and 3, that's 14 points for X-Force, which will allow for two more models to build your 17 threat or 20 threat squad. Enough to fit Colossus or Wolverine, and then you're pretty much set for an up-close team that can get some ranged support from Cable. This box ships with his updated character card, which improves both his builder attack (Plasma Rifle) and his leadership ability (Wetworks).

Wetworks allows for allies to reroll attack die, and if they do and an enemy is up close (within 3), Cover won't benefit them. This works perfectly with a team of up-close fighters, including X-23 and Honey Badger, both of whom take big advantage of up-close physical attacks, like Claw Rush and Claw Slash, both of which also add bleed statuses.

Domino helps support Cable at distance with her automatic pistols, which give her an additional attack, but players will focus on Probability Manipulation, which allows her to use her Luck power by changing Fail dice hits into Critical results.

X-23 and Honey Badger are sisters, so their cards reflect that. Big Sis and Lil Sis allow them to move on attacks that target them! This is great for positioning, which then allows them to use their attacks. Honey Badger in particular comes with Anklebiter, which reduces the enemy defense die by 1, which increases the benefit of always being attached to X-23.

On the team tactic card side of the house, there's more benefit to teaming up. Wolverines allows X-23 and Wolverine to protect each other from pushes or throws, rerolling attack dice, and sending bleed conditions to defenders. Instant Recovery amplifies Healing Factor by doubling it, Cat & Mouse and Warpath both affect movement, but Jonathan The Unstoppable is the core card here. It creates a new token on the field that can contest objective tokens. This is like having another character on the field who can help support the team while they run out and attack!

All in all, this is a great box to pair up with the X-Men Starter set, and you'll be seeing a lot of X-Force on tables soon!
