Zelda: Breath of the Wild launching on Wii U same day as Switch

Update: Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released the same day as the Nintendo Switch version: March 3, 2017.

Not all retailers have confirmed similar release dates; Amazon.com still lists Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a March 31 release date, and other outlets like Best Buy and Walmart have yet to list a release date.

Original Story: According to a listing on Amazon.com, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be available for Wii U on March 31 — nearly a month after its scheduled release for Nintendo Switch.

The listing currently reads “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Wii U,” with an attached price of $59.99 US ($59.96 for Prime users — a real steal). According to the listing, the game is currently available for pre-order and will be released on March 31.

Last night, Nintendo held a live presentation in Tokyo revealing several key details for their next console, including a release date: March 3, 2017. At the end of the conference, President Tatsumi Kimishima announced that Zelda: Breath of the Wild would launch alongside the Switch on March 3. The presentation closed out with a new gameplay trailer of the upcoming cross-platform Zelda game.
