If you’ve been perusing Jason Ballew’s excellent Black Friday sale summary, you might have noticed Best Buy’s $20 discount on the “Cosmo Black 3DS with Zelda.” That’s the exact listing as it appears in their ads and on their website, but what you might not know based only on the text description is that when this new bundle begins appearing on store shelves this week, the “Cosmo Black” unit inside will actually be emblazoned with a limited edition design commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Zelda franchise.
Users can download and play hundreds of new and classic games from the Nintendo eShop, and the Nintendo Video service automatically delivers short 3D videos from the worlds of music, comedy, animation and Hollywood to the Nintendo 3DS system. Owners can play games in 3D without the need for special glasses and take their own 3D pictures. Netflix subscribers can stream great TV and movie content. Later this month, Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to record 3D videos or create stop-motion movies.
The included Zelda game in question is Ocarina of Time 3D, a remastered version of the Nintendo 64 masterpiece with vastly improved textures and polygon counts.
A separate bundle containing a Flame Red 3DS and a copy of the new Super Mario 3D Land will also arrive this week, though that system appears unmodified from its stand-alone package. Each package will have a suggested retail price of $199.99, but shoppers with enough drive to brave the Black Friday crowds have a chance to score them for $20-$30 less later this week.
