While Microsoft recently shut down Xbox Entertainment Studios, the studio meant to bring original television content to Xbox platforms, the book might not be closed on the studio entirely.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that sources have stated that the studio is currently in talks with Warner Bros. about a new partnership. If that deal were to go through, Xbox Entertainment Studios would be merged with Machinima, a game-centric YouTube network.
A spokesperson from Warner Bros. was quoted as saying that the company is “constantly having preliminary discussions regarding business opportunities with numerous companies at any given time. A conversation is just that — a conversation.”
While WB issued a comment, representatives of Xbox Entertainment Studios and Machinima declined to comment.
While the Xbox Entertainment Studios closure does put many of its projects in a questionable state, it was confirmed that the live-action Halo TV series would unaffected by the studio’s closure.
