Following the classic trope of an unlikely team-up against a larger threat, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes trailer showcases the game’s setting and conflict as its protagonists struggle to come to grips with one another.
During each play through it looks like players will have to struggle with maintaining a relative sense of peace among the various cast members as they struggle to survive against the dark and supernatural forces stocking them in the underground tunnels they fell into.
In the shadow of the Zagros mountains a US military unit comes under fire from Iraqi forces. The resulting firefight causes an earth tremor where both sides fall into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. With all communication severed, our protagonists are trapped and must navigate a way to escape – unaware that something ancient and evil has awakened in the shadows and is hungry for blood.
In this terrifying underworld, ask yourself who your real enemy is. The monsters hiding in the shadows or the other people trapped with you? Will you set aside your rivalries to face a common enemy? Tough decisions will have to be made… and the consequences could be deadly.
House of Ashes will release on October 22 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is available for pre-order now, and pre-ordering will grant exclusive early access to the curator’s cut that allows players to play previously unavailable scenes with different playable characters. This cut will be available for free for owners of the game three months after its launch, however.
