If ever there’s been a movie suited to a game tie-in, it’d have to be the tragic/inspiring tale of The Miracle of Dunkirk. Today, the team at Wargaming has announced that they’ll be partnering with Warner Bros. to do exactly that with one of their flagship (pun intended) titles World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes. Set in WWII already, the Wargaming products will create a “Remember Dunkirk” scenario to commemorate the 77th anniversary of is critical juncture in the war, and will launch in July. Here’s a little bit about the event (codename Operation Dynamo), and the Christopher Nolan movie that looks to capture it:
The evacuation, known as the “Miracle of Dunkirk,” took place from May 26th until June 4th, 1940, when hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers were trapped by advancing German forces on the beaches of Dunkirk, France. As the battle raged around them, many were transported to safety by the combined efforts of both military and civilian vessels. The history of this massive mobilization and the hopeful, personal stories of those involved will unfold in the film Dunkirk.
“We believe Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk will be an unforgettable film about one of the most momentous accomplishments of World War II,” stated Erik Whiteford, Head of Marketing, Wargaming America, “and we are honored to be in a partnership with a creative endeavor that shares our passion for honoring and preserving the incredible events that define that era.”
Join Wargaming as they “Remember Dunkirk” to commemorate the 77th anniversary of this crucial turning point in WWII. “Remember Dunkirk” anniversary events and offerings are taking place across the entire slate of Wargaming’s combat video games. The action intensifies in July, as even more events come to the Wargaming “Battle Trilogy” of video games.
A series of emblems, missions, and more will be patched into the Wargaming titles, enabling the 180+ million subscribers to take to the land, air, and sea to crush their enemies. For World of Warplanes, the scenario is entitled Skies over Dunkirk, for World of Warships the change is called Sea of Hope, and in World of Tanks you get Road to Dunkirk. You can find out all of the details at RememberDunkirk.com, and check out the new movie when it arrives on July 21, 2017.
World of Warships, World of Tanks, and World of Warplanes are all free to play and available at Wargaming.net
