Today, Vive announced a couple of new VR experiences coming soon as well as a special game sale for the current Steam Halloween Sale.
We’ve got a busy Thursday in store for Vive. Two new VR experiences that turns home remodeling on its head and another that gives you a new home in SteamVR. And we’ve got a special offer to go with the Steam Halloween sale. Here’s the skinny.
First up, we’ve got the launch of TrueScale, a new interior design tool that simultaneously creates 2D floor plans, 3D mockups, and full room-scale environments in virtual reality on the Vive. Take it one step further and even add furnishings from Wayfair to your VR home remodel.
Next, we’re retooling a Vive space within SteamVR Home. Driftwood is a Vive-created home space within SteamVR Home. We’ve merged the remote feel of a private outpost, with a beachfront landscape that is reminiscent of our backyard in the Pacific Northwest. Over time, we’ll evolve Driftwood to add new elements including quests, mini-games and other unlockables and collectibles from Vive Creative Labs to share with friends. To install Driftwood, go to the Steam Community panel, locate “Driftwood“ by HTC Vive and hit “Subscribe.” The Driftwood environment can also become your default load-in as you launch SteamVR by selecting it as your Home.
Lastly, we’ve already created a AAA-ready bundle with Fallout 4 VR and Vive throughout the holiday season. For Halloween, we’re adding another treat for the Steam Halloween Sale. All Vive purchases through the HTC Vive page on Steam will also receive Star Trek: Bridge Crew for the duration of the sale through 11/1.
