The first episode of Telltale’s Batman series will launch this summer, the studio has confirmed.
News of this comes from the studio’s SXSW panel, where Telltale revealed the first details about its take on Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting life as Batman.
Telltale’s Batman will not be based on any specific Batman canon, and will instead take place in what is described as a “fresh interpretation of the universe set in current times, not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics.” Other members of Batman’s team won’t be the focus of the series, meaning fans shouldn’t expect to see much if anything of characters like Robin or Nightwing. Other supporting characters such as Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya were all confirmed to make an appearance.
Choices players make as Bruce will have an effect on villains he will have to fight as Batman, shaping the direction that Gotham City as a whole goes through Bruce’s influence.
Telltale announced plans to make a series based on Batman at The Game Awards back in December, but these are the first details the studio has released since.
