BARCELONA, SPAIN (September 19th, 2024) – 10 Chambers — a Swedish game development studio composed of industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 — released their first game, GTFO, a cooperative FPS horror game, in 2021.

While updating GTFO, they’ve also been working on their next title, Den of Wolves, where the Creative Director, Ulf Andersson, goes back to his heist roots with an FPS co-op shooter taking place on Midway City, a Pacific Island in the near future overrun by hyper-capitalism – where you execute industrial espionage, sabotage, theft, and assassinations.

While the game was revealed during The Game Awards 2023, today was the first time the studio gave a glimpse into the game with a live tech demo at Unity’s annual conference, Unite 2024, in Barcelona.

The tech demo showcased a warehouse level containing an enormous vault guarded by heavily armed humans and robots – teasing what kind of resistance you’ll meet with your heist gang.

“At 10 Chambers, we tend to build many tools ourselves, but when the team at Unity built us a scene in Unity 6 with Den of Wolves assets, we were convinced and started upgrading the game to it. It looks better, but it also lets us iterate quickly and freely, which helps when experimenting with many different gameplay ideas. Something especially valuable for a game like Den of Wolves where we’re trying to elevate what a heist game can be”, says Hjalmar Vikström.

Den of Wolves is a cooperative heist FPS game from the creator of Payday: The Heist and PAYDAY 2. Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, it showed a cryptic setting of the game: a person being tortured and interrogated with future technology.

Den of Wolves takes place on a near-future hyper-capitalistic island called Midway City. Here, you and your friends will operate as criminals for hire in the conflict between rival corporations. 10 Chambers started developing the game in 2021, and while it has left pre-production, the developers are transparent about what stage of development the game is in.

“Revealing the look and feel of a game level at a developer conference isn’t the typical marketing approach, but as developers first, it felt natural. Svante showcased Den of Wolves’ real-time environment in Unity 6, and while it looks promising, there’s still work ahead before it’s ready for players. We’re taking our time to avoid disappointment, but expect to see gameplay in the not so distant future”, says Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers.

Den of Wolves is planned to be released as Early Access on Steam, where it’s already available to wishlist, but it doesn’t have a release date yet. The studio hopes to show more from the development in the near future.
