The Smite Summer Masters tournament has come to an end with the Styx Ferrymen taking home a 3-0 victory over the Oni Warriors. This was an intense match to watch, as the Oni Warriors were, up until today, undefeated throughout all of Season X.
As a midlaner and mage main myself, Styx Ferrymen midlaner Paul is and always has been my absolute favorite player in the SPL, but the Oni Warriors have looked so good all season long. I have enjoyed watching Pegon become one of the new forces to reckon with as mid. But you can’t count out Paul, and in the end he and Cyclonespin on Freya just devastated the Warriors. Cyno and Aror looked fantastic on Ganesha and Erlang Shen in the front line in game 3. Some questionable decisions from Warriors solo laner SoloOrTroll on Thor, and Jungler Panitom certainly didn’t help things along in games 1 and 2, and unfortunately they just could not find their groove in team fights in game 3.
The Oni Warriors have had an amazing season and the team synergy looks great, the players genuinely look like they have a blast playing together, and finally seeing AwesomeJake get the recognition he deserves as Support is nice. I think it will ultimately be these two teams facing off at Smite Worlds at the end of the season.
Speaking of the Smite World Championships, we got a huge announcement today that the SWC will be returning to Arlington, Texas on January 12th-14th 2024. Tickets will go on sale July 12th. We certainly had a blast covering SWC this year, and can’t wait to attend this year!
Congratulations to Aror, Cyno, Cyclonespin, Baskin, Paul, and coach Realzx on their victory today in the Smite Summer Masters 2023! We have a lot to look forward to in Smite this year, including the release of Charon right around the corner, so stay tuned to Gaming Trend for more Smite coverage.
