Capcom has laid out its plans for Street Fighter V’s June update, which will be the game’s biggest since its launch in February.
First up is the cinematic story mode, which Capcom states will last 3-4 hours. This free mode will allow players to experience the events between Street Fighter IV and III. All six of Street Fighter V’s currently known DLC characters will be playable, including those that will not be available in the game proper just yet. This includes Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Urien, and Juri, the latter three of which will be added to the game’s roster at a later date. Capcom does clarify that these builds of the characters are not “final” and shouldn’t be considered tournament-ready.
Completing the story mode will earn you 30,000 Fight Money to use in the in-game shop, while playing it on the more difficult unlockable “Extra Mode” will earn you an additional 50,000.
June’s update will also bring Ibuki into the roster, as well as the ability to purchase content with real-world money instead of the in-game Fight Money currency. As such, the free trial period for Alex and Guile will cease when the update goes live, meaning players will have to either earn them through Fight Money or pay out of pocket to play as them.
