Stardew Valley’s 1.3 update is now live on Nintendo Switch, includes online multiplayer and more events

Stardew Valley’s online multiplayer update has finally made its way to consoles starting with Nintendo Switch. This update allows up to 4 players to join together on a single farm in online co-op or in the same room through local communications.

The state of the Stardew Valley game world, including the main storyline, is shared between all players on the farm, as well as the pool of money you accumulate. However, each player will have their own private inventories, skills, achievements, collections, individual relationships, quests, and crafting/cooking recipes. As more hands are better than one, you may wish to change the difficulty level of your collective farm, which you can achieve by scaling the profit margins. In terms of marriage, players can choose to woo the eligible folks of Pelican Town, or craft a wedding ring to propose to a fellow player. If the other player accepts the ring, the couple becomes engaged!

Players can communicate using Switch online voice chat or through a new chat box feature with colored text. Multiplayer isn’t the only addition in the 1.3 update as players can now visit the Night Market for three days in Winter. The Night Market will contain unique items and live entertainment. There are also new secret events, character events, and a “secret” type of collection leading to a new adventure. Most importantly, however, is the newfound ability to give your horse a hat.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Multiplayer updates are now top priority for ConcernedApe and should be completed fairly soon. For more information on this update, visit the official website.
