Atomic Mass Games has released an update for Star Wars: Shatterpoint for over 30 of its units from the core set and squad packs. Like any game with expansions, newer expansions slowly and methodically tend to outclass previous releases, making earlier expansions less desirable for play. This update breathes some new life into those older pieces, some nearly two years old, by updating the unit and stance cards. Fortunately, Atomic Mass Games does not believe in requiring players to chase cards by forcing them to buy expansions, so they have released these updated cards for free to download, print, and play with.

You can read AMG’s full Star Wars: Shatterpoint 2025 Unit Updates in-depth breakdown here, which covers their reasonings and rationales for what changes were made and why. Rather than regurgitate what has been stated in their article, I would like to instead spotlight some of the bigger (and much needed changes) for a few Shatterpoint characters here. Many characters received minor stat or stance adjustments; small tweaks to help them stay current without breaking the spirit of the character or the balance of the game, but some got some big reworks

Jedi Master Mace Windu

One of the more desperately-needed updates was for Mace Windu. He may have held the rank of Master and served on the counsel, but he only had 6 SP, which really restricted who he could bring along. With a bump up to 7 SP, it gives him a lot more options now. His “Shatterpoint” ability no longer requires Mace to be chosen and now it can be applied to an allied character. “Tempered Aggression” allows Mace to add dice instead of just rerolling, which statistically works out better for him, especially with those tanky Primary units.

Grand Inquisitor, Fallen Jedi

Another character who looks threatening on paper but falls short in execution on the table is Grand Inquisitor. His abilities were too costly, or too restrictive, or far too difficult to set up and pull off, which severely limited his effectiveness for changing strategies quickly. “Secrets Uncovered” removed the range restriction from Range 5 and changed it to anywhere on the board. “The Temple Records are Quite Complete” got a total overhaul, simplifying the ability, and rewarding him with going up against Force Users. Lastly, his stances got some small adjustments to make them be more efficient, with a few stat boosts, which makes his “The Temple Records are Quite Complete” that much more effective.

Jango Fett, Bounty Hunter

At least he kept his head!

Not all characters got a glow up. In fact, Jango Fett lost some of his luster. Not only was he was an incredibly popular tournament choice, seeing a lot of time on the table, but he just brought so much to the table that it was hard to rationalize not including him in any strike team. “Not So Fast” was downgraded which made him less of a walking Thermal Detonator and more of a tactical threat for played reserved units. Also, “I’m Just Looking to Get Paid” was reduced down to one Force refresh instead of two.

Aurra Sing

Aurra Sing got a little love, both on her stat and stance cards. The most notable of which is that she lost “Payday” and gained “On Contact,” essentially making her a wild card unit for the game instead of just the turn. Her blasters and rifles got a few more symbols for their expertise, and she should be dodging a lot better now (even though she ultimately gets pushed off a cliff by Tobias Beckett).

Clone Troopers

Without going too much in depth for each of the Clone Units, the overall changes were meant to help give the clones a little more durability and combat effectiveness. Compared to other supporting units in the game, the Clones weren’t really supporting well and many just didn't have the staying power. With the exception of the ARF Troopers, who exchanged Coordinated Fire for Supporting Fire, all of the other clone units received improvements. One example is this is the Republic Commandos got a bump for their defensive expertise and an extra health point. Another example is the 212th Clone Troopers gained the Clone Marksmen ability, which gives them Sharpshooter 1 (it adds 1 additional dice to its next Ranged attack in addition to the 1 attack die added by the focus action).

There are many more updates to characters (Like Cad Bane being multi-era!), so please check out the AMG article linked above. Overall, the changes seemed to be welcomed by the communities, who have been eagerly awaiting updates for many of these characters. What makes Shatterpoint so great is the ability to mix and match your favorite heroes and villains together. With this update, players won’t be as restricted to using certain characters each time they want to play. Let the dice roll!
