Sony has confirmed that it is working on bringing PlayStation 2 games to PlayStation 4 via emulation.
“We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation,” a Sony representative confirmed to WIRED via an email. “We have nothing further to comment at this point in time.”
The first titles to utilize this emulation appear to be Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter — all of which were recently brought to the PlayStation 4 as a bundle — as reported by Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry. You can see the outlets hands-on impressions below.
A recent survey sent out by Sony asked those polled to pick what they believed to be the most important features to be included on the PlayStation 4. Among the list provided were “PS1 Classics” and “PS2 Classics.”
