From Software’s Masaaki Yamagiwa has confirmed that the studio is targeting 30 frames-per-second for the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne.
Speaking with PlayStation Lifestyle, Yamagiwa revealed this while also saying that while they “haven’t made an official announcement yet but they will probably go for 30fps since that’s what they found to be the best fps (frames-per-second) to play action games,” adding that “they weren’t targeting 60fps because it’s not first-person shooting, it’s an action game.”
Later, Sony reached out to PlayStation Lifestyle in order to clarify some of Yamagiwa’s statements with the following:
“There was some miscommunication in that particular Q&A in which the subtle nuance was misunderstood.
Yamagiwa-san would like to clarify that 1080p/30fps is what Bloodborne is going for considering its game designs, but never meant that it’s the best choice for all action games in general.”
PlayStation LifeStyle admits that due to the interview being conducted through a translator, it is possible that Yamagiwa’s words could have been misinterpreted, but either way, Bloodborne will be running at 30fps when it launches on February 6th.
