It’s no secret that David and I are some of SMITE’s biggest fans, with easily over 8k hours clocked in-game. We were very excited to sit down with the devs of SMITE 2, Ajax and PonPon, to hear what is coming up next for SMITE 2, and there certainly is a lot to report!

As of today, January 7th, four Gods from SMITE 1 will be joining the roster in SMITE 2. Agni, Geb, Mulan, and Ullr hit the battlefield with some slight improvements from SMITE 1.

On January 14th SMITE 2 will go Free-to-Play. This update is HUGE for the game, as it not only allows more people to jump in and play for free, but we are getting some important new content.

We have not seen a new God since the launch of the SMITE 2 Alpha with Hecate, but now Aladdin will join her as the second brand new God in the game. His abilities look amazing, with wall climbing, and an ult that sends you into the genie lamp! With the launch of the FtP Beta on the 14th, SMITE 2 will have 45 Gods in it’s roster, with more coming every two weeks. Devs have said they plan on adding the entire roster of 130 Gods from SMITE 1 to SMITE 2, along with more brand new Gods.

Two new map modes, Joust which is 3v3, and Duel which is 1v1 will also be added to the game on the 13th, along with the map I am truly the most excited for: an alpha version of Assault. Assault is a super popular 5v5 mode in SMITE 1 where you get a random God assigned and one lane to fight in. The only way to shop and spend your gold is by dying.

One of the things I appreciate about SMITE 2 is that the devs have been transparent about all the additions, bugs, changes, and roadmap throughout the entire process. They have Titan Talks at least twice a week, where the devs sit down and talk about what is coming up next. You can catch these chats live on their Twitch channel, or on YouTube after the fact.

If you happen to follow the SMITE 2 Pro scene like us, next week from Jan 17-19th is the first ever SMITE 2 Founder’s Series at the Hyper X Arena in Las Vegas. Tune in to the SMITE 2 Twitch channel to watch all the action.

SMITE 2 is looking nice and polished lately, and has come a LONG way since it’s Alpha launch last year. We have been playing since the start, with the launch of the Free-to-Play Beta on Jan 14th and these new maps, the game is finally starting to take shape. There has never been a better time to jump in and play SMITE 2, whether you’re a veteran player or brand new!
