Silent Hunter Online Dev Diary

Are you an old school PC player like me?   If so, then you will certainly remember the Silent Hunter series (first published under the SSI brand!), and you might be interested to find out that Ubisoft is making it a browser-based title, and that we’ve got another one coming in 2013.  Entitled Silent Hunter Online, the game is currently in closed beta.  Here is what we know so far:

Silent Hunter Online sees the return of the large array of historically accurate submarines that made the franchise famous, and invites players to experience them online in new ways. At the heart of the game is “the Battle of the Atlantic”, an innovative dynamic campaign in which individual successes impact all other players through asynchronous gameplay. Also, for the first time in the Silent Hunter series, players will be able to play every mission of the campaign in co-op.

Players can get more information as well as early access to the game by visiting www.silenthunteronline.com and applying to be part of the closed beta.

Ok, every mission in co-op has been on the wish list for this series for a LONG time.   Get ready to run silent, run deep folks – this one might be worth looking into.   Enjoy the developer diary with historian Matthias Siedlaczek as he explains how his expertise helped shape this game.
