Alfonso del Cerro recently announced that his one-man project, Megaton Rainfall, will debut on PlayStation 4 and PSVR on September 26, with a Steam release shortly afterwards. The game is mainly a solo project, with the assistance of a few artists and illustrators joining the mix.
In Megaton Rainfall, you can fly at supersonic speeds (Richard Donner’s Superman style) around the entire Earth, recreated procedurally, including cities up to 200 square miles that you can cross from end to end at Mach 8 speed, in seconds. Another remarkable feature is the procedural destruction of the cities. In the game you can’t die in any way, but the city has a health bar, and if you let the aliens destroy too many buildings (or you miss your targets), you’ll leave a trail of collapsed buildings and it will be game over.
The game will be compatible with PlayStation 4 Pro and can be rendered in 4k. The PSVR will be supported as well, but will omit some camera effects like rolls and shakes for the comfort of the player. Check out the trailer above, and stay tuned for more news here on Gaming Trend.
