Sandbox semi-MMO Citadel: Forged With Fire hits Early Access with trailer

There aren’t a lot of great sandbox RPGs between the names you already know, but it looks like we might have a shot at one with a game that just went live on Early Access called Citadel: Forged With Fire. A hybrid MMO (online and playable with friends, but also playable single player) spanning 36 square kilometers, the massive world features spellcasting, PvE, PvP, taming beasts that you can then ride (or even fly!), as well as the ability to build your own massive castle.

While the early reviews (and frankly, too early as many of these folks have spent less than a reasonable amount of hours to really make an assessment) have been mixed, everything I’ve seen raised by these early reviews is being addressed and quickly. It’s nice to see developers this engaged with the community and reacting to their requests, including stability, locomotion, and more. Clearly the potential is there as all of the most recent reviews are spinning up positive.

We just recently got our hands on the game to busy our hands with a preview, so stand by for our continued coverage, but in the mean time, check out this Early Access launch trailer and judge for yourself.

Citadel: Forged with Fire is available on PC via Early Access here.
