Recipe on Kmiydish Paper releases second printing

Press release from the designer:

July 31st, 2023 – Chicago IL.Recipe on Kmiydish Paper, an exciting entry into the growing world of culinary analog gaming, has sold out of its entire initial print run, prompting a rerelease and celebration. After its physical release last summer, Recipe on Kmiydish Paper has been sold in game stores, Judaica markets, and via TikTok recommendations. With only one misprinted copy left in warehouses, publishing company Exalted Funeral has rereleased the game in a second, expanded printing. On Wednesday, 8/2, this zine will be available as a physical and digital game for purchase and play on Exalted Funeral’s storefront and itch.io, just in time for summer picnics, game nights, and Tisha B’Av.

Recipe on Kmiydish Paper is a love letter to Eastern European Jewish food, making the world of tongue sandwiches, pampushkas, and sauerkraut interactive and available inside a beautiful blue zine you can pass around your picnic table. Instead of playing as adventurers, players will inhabit food itself, altering your ingredients, traits, and histories as your chefs and consumers face oppression, forced migration, and war. The digital version of the game has been downloaded over 5000 times — in the year since it’s grown only more relevant in its explorations of Eastern European resilience and mutual aid since the invasion of Ukraine. Recipe on Kmiydish Paper is available as a 48-page printed booklet exclusive to Exalted Funeral, and illustrated by Turkish-Ashkenazi artist Aylin Erkan, in $15 in a print + PDF bundle

A life long video gamer, Mark caught the Tabletop itch in college and has been hooked ever since. Epic two player strategy games are his favorites but he enjoys pretty much everything on the tabletop, just no Werewolf please. When he gets a break from changing diapers and reading bedtime stories he can usually be found researching new games or day dreaming about maybe one day having time for a ttrpg. Some of Mark's favorite games are Star Wars: Rebellion, A Feast for Odin, and Nemesis.
