Ravensburger has announced their plans for Disney Villainous in 2024 and there are some exciting things coming. Sugar and Spite has an interesting mashup of a classic villain, Shere Khan, with a comparatively newer character, King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph, and is the first in a new format of “expandalone” sets that will feature two characters at a lower price point so new players have an even easier time jumping into the game with the characters they love. We are also getting new characters in the Star Wars line that will be announced later in the year as well as a full retail release of the previously limited Introduction to Evil box. RAVENSBURGER UNVEILS 2024 VILLAINOUS LINEUP
Celebrating 6 Years of the Award-Winning Board Game Franchise with New Expandalone Games and Curated Beginner Experience
Seattle, WA (January 4, 2024) – Prepare to meet the most cunning card game of them all! Today, Ravensburger, acclaimed publisher behind award-winning board games and high-quality toys and puzzles, announces 2024 plans for its award-winning Villainous franchise. Ravensburger will move to a new format for all Villainous expandalone games in 2024, now featuring two characters at a more affordable price point ($19.99 USD/$29.99 CAD). The company will add new expandalone games in the Disney Villainous and Star Wars™ Villainous lines, which will both be available later this year.
“The Villainous community is full of passionate, friendly fans, who’ve used our games to introduce friends to the board gaming hobby for years, and we take that responsibility very seriously,” said Lysa Penrose, Head of New Games Marketing at Ravensburger. “We want to make board gaming as approachable as possible. For Villainous as an introductory game, the adjusted format lowers the price of entry and offers an easier option for couples or smaller groups of friends to enjoy gameplay, while still offering the exciting, immersive mechanics… and a few surprises… that core fans have grown to love.”
Villainous expandalone games in 2024 include:
Disney Villainous: Sugar and Spite, featuring King Candy from Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” and Shere Khan from Disney’s “The Jungle Book,” will become the franchise’s newest expandalone when it debuts in June. A special edition of the game, featuring a candy bar-themed packaging sleeve and exclusive finish on King Candy’s mover will be available exclusively at Target.
Star Wars™ Villainous
Ravensburger will travel deeper into the Star Wars™ galaxy with a new expandalone in the summer of 2024. More details on the game, including featured characters, will be revealed ahead of the game’s launch later this year.
In addition to the new expandalones, Ravensburger will also offer an option for new players with Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil. First released in 2023 as a limited Disney100 offering, the game will be available nationwide in August at mass retailers and hobby stores. Introduction to Evil has been refreshed with video resources and streamlined gameplay designed to be welcoming for beginners. It includes a lower price point ($29.99 USD) and a refreshed box, and it reintroduces some of the franchise’s first Disney Villains – Maleficent, Captain Hook, Ursula, and Prince John. The changes incorporate fan feedback and the Ravensburger team’s learnings from developing the game for over five years.
