Today, Nintendo held a special Pokemon Direct that featured a few new games: Pokkén Tournament DX for Nintendo Switch, and Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Pokkén Tournament DX is an updated version of the WiiU release and introduces five new playable Pokemon. In addition to this announcement, Pokkén Tournament DX will be one of Nintendo’s E3 open-invitational tournaments. Pokkén Tournament DX is being released September 22nd, 2017.
Coming as a surprise at the end of the Pokkén Tournament DX trailer, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon are being released November 17th, 2017 worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS systems. Not much is known about these two titles except that they are an alternate story in the Pokemon Sun/Moon world and feature a different mix of Pokemon that their predecessors. This is similar to 2012’s Pokemon Black 2/White 2 on the Nintendo DS.
With one final surprise, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver are being released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console on the same date as Pokkén Tournament DX, September 22nd, 2017.
