It looks like PlayStation is still managing to stay on top by a pretty big margin.
Sony’s latest financial report confirms that during the first quarter of 2014 PlayStation systems outsold Xbox consoles 3:1. While no specifics were given how much PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 systems were sold separately, it was confirmed that the company sold 3.5 million units in the first quarter of the year. For comparison, 1.1 million consoles were sold during the same time last year.
Microsoft’s most recent financial report has Xbox sales at around 1.1 million across Xbox One and Xbox 360, meaning the PlayStation brand outsold it 3:1.
Earlier this year, Sony confirmed that the company was expecting an increase in its console sales this fiscal year when compared to its last, and these latest numbers prove that already appears to be true.
