Playstation Network Experiences Some Minor Security Turbulence

Just a heads up for all you Playstation 3 owners – Sony’s Chief Information Security Officer sends word that they have detected some attempts to ” test a massive set of sign-in IDs and passwords against our network database”. It doesn’t seem anywhere close to the severity of the last hack brouhaha – in this case, it’s being said that less than one-tenth of one percent of relevant accounts may have been affected, and the source of the problem is speculated to be compromised data from other companies. Sony is responding to this by requiring login and password resets for anyone who may have been affected, along with temporary account deactivations. Nice to see them showing they’re more on the ball with things like this now.
