Parity’s debut game, Island of Winds, announced for PS5 and PC, trailer released

Parity has announced details for their debut game, Island of Winds. Launching next year on the PS5 and PC, Island of Winds features a magical open world and is set in 17th century Iceland. A story driven adventure game, players will take on the role of Brynhild, a magic wielding woman, as she navigates a story dealing with belonging, self-doubt, and regret.  Check out the announcement trailer above and the full press release below:

Island of Winds bringing Iceland’s magical, mythical past to PC and console in 2022 

Prepare for an epic journey of magic and monsters through the Land of Ice and Fire,  inspired by Iceland’s spell-binding folklore, set to launch on PS5 and PC in 2022

September 16th, 2021 – Reykjavík, Iceland – Independent developer Parity is excited to announce that its debut title, story-driven mythical adventure game, Island of Winds, is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2022. Island of Winds transports players to 17th century Iceland, plunging them into a magical world teeming with trolls, giant spiders and mythical creatures. Players will experience all of this through the eyes of the magic-wielding Brynhild, a member of the Balance Keepers who draws her magical power from the natural world.

Island of Winds is an adventure puzzle game set in an ethereal open world filled with creatures from the myths and legends of Icelandic folklore. Brynhild’s journey has her on a quest to find her mentor, Hrymja, that will take her through nine incredible landscapes that draw on Iceland’s stunning natural beauty. These locations range from the fiery Lava of Skjól to the treacherous Jökla lagoon and gleaming Obsidian Shore. Brynhild will face legendary creatures on her journey, such as the powerful and majestic Bear King, Hafgúfa – Guardian of the Sea and the majestic elven lady Vör of the Oasis. Island of Winds’ core gameplay is at the centre of these encounters, which focuses on rich story-telling, extensive lore, and intriguing puzzles. Spell-casting, combat or unique empathy-based encounters systems are all available to the player as they must make split-second decisions on whether to resolve engagements by peaceful or violent means.
