LOS ANGELES, CA – December 15, 2021 – Today, during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, Taiwanese developer Silver Lining Studio and co-publishers Akupara Games and Akatsuki Taiwan revealed that interactive fiction, Behind the Frame, will be releasing on home consoles in Spring 2022. Akupara Games, responsible for bringing the title to consoles, implemented clever use of the consoles’ peripherals to add an additional dimension to the experience for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation users.
“When bringing Behind the Frame to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation, we wanted to make sure we used all of our tools to create the sensation of painting on a canvas,” said Dean Razavi, Technical Producer at Akupara Games. “So on PlayStation, you’ll be able to use your finger on the DUALSHOCK® controller’s touchpad to paint, giving you that fine-grain control. On the Nintendo Switch, in addition to touch screen support, you can flick your Joy-ConTM around in docked mode just like you would a paintbrush. Just point it at the screen, and your hand motions will be translated to paint strokes!”
Behind the Frame is about an aspiring artist on the cusp of finishing the final piece of her gallery submission. Guide her brush strokes and solve a variety of puzzles to help complete her masterpiece; amid her brusque neighbor’s gaze and his pesky cat. As her painting takes shape, uncover an emotional tale of chance and artistry revealed behind unrelated yet familiar moments.
Features:
Paint, sketch, and retouch your artwork to complete your masterpiece and your memories using the DUALSHOCK® controller or Joy-ConTM, or dock your Switch to paint with your fingers ● Dive into and explore beautiful panoramic, hand-animated worlds inspired by Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli visuals

Behind the Frame continues to shatter expectations, racking up over 14 individual awards and accolades as well as an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam since its world premiere during iam8bit’s Day of the Devs Showcase earlier this year. Critics praise the game for its beautiful artwork and riveting story about love and art.
