Oldice Max, led by CEO Jaehyung Park, announced its participation in the upcoming ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B’ at KINTEX, Ilsan, from May 23rd to 26th.

Founded in January of this year, Oldice Max leverages Jaehyung Park’s years of experience in solo game development. Park previously released “Flawless Darkness” on Steam and indie stores, winning the “Good Game Award” at the Korea Game Awards and the “Immersive Audio” award at GDWC. The company has also collaborated with Smilegate’s Heemang Studio on campaigns.

Oldice Max will introduce their in-development game, “Sea of Peridot,” a unique aquaculture simulation game featuring charming graphics at the exhibition. In “Sea of Peridot,” players can cultivate seafood such as seaweed, kelp, and oysters. While sharing similarities with farming simulations, the game’s main differentiator is that it takes place in the vast ocean rather than on land.

Moreover, players can negotiate in inland regions without access to the sea to sell harvested seafood at a higher price or process it to earn more money. Players can purchase high-grade tools or customize their characters and surroundings with the money earned. The game also includes life simulation elements, allowing players to interact with NPCs and explore dungeons for RPG-like experiences.

Jaehyung Park, CEO of Oldice Max, shared their ambitious vision of global expansion, with the United States as a prime target market. He highlighted the growing popularity of seaweed, particularly in the context of the Korean food trend, which could pique player interest due to the frequent appearance of seaweed in the game.

Park stated, “We aim to participate in Korean and international exhibitions to promote the game. We plan to conduct funding and early access to avoid extending the development period.”

The ‘2024 PlayX4 B2B,’ hosted by Gyeonggi Content Agency and KINTEX, is themed ‘More Than Just the Joy of Gaming’ and features exhibitions and experiences of new games from Korean and international game companies. Visitors can enjoy side programs like the retro game market, esports competitions, and cosplay events.
