Nintendo has announced that it will no longer be distributing hardware and software in Brazil.
The company cites “challenges in the local business environment,” such as “high import duties…and our decision not to have a local manufacturing operation.”
Typically, video game consoles have been very expensive in Brazil due to Sony and Nintendo not having local manufacturing plants in the territory. Microsoft is the only outlier in this, and it made the Xbox One cheaper than the PlayStation 4 in Brazil despite being more expensive everywhere else.
