New Detective Pikachu movie trailer gives more story details, Pokemon Direct airing tomorrow morning

Today, we got another look at the upcoming Detective Pikachu film on the official YouTube channel for Warner Bros. Pictures. In this trailer, we’re given a better look into the backstory of the Ryan Reynolds voiced Pikachu as well as shown a few more Pokemon.

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City–a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world–they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Detective Pikachu will be released in theaters on May 10th, 2019. For more information, visit the official website.

This wasn’t the only Pokemon news to be revealed today. Tomorrow at 6AM PST, Nintendo will air a brief Pokemon Direct, possibly revealing the upcoming Pokemon Switch titles to start the 8th generation. That Pokemon Direct will be available to view here. Last year, we made a wishlist for what we want in the next mainline Pokemon title. Check out our wishlist here.
