Meet the Terror Tribe in Middle-earth: Shadow of War trailer

We kick off this morning with a new video for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, this one focusing on the Terror Tribe – one of the Orc factions who, as the name implies, specializes is sowing fear throughout Mordor. In the upcoming sequel, Orcs are now members of tribes (of which there are six – Mystic, Marauder, Machine, Feral, Warmonger, and Terror) which have a direct effect on the weapons, skills, and powers of the shock troops, Captains, Warchiefs, and Overlords. Overlords, as you may have picked up from our hands-on preview from E3, are the elite foes that control the Fortresses in Mordor, pushing the already-awesome Nemesis system up an entire tier.

If it’s been a little bit since you’ve played Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and would like a refresher of where Shadow of War fits in the narrative, look no further:

Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an open world action RPG that continues the original narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Players will be engrossed in a richer, more personal and expansive world full of epic heroes and villains, iconic locations, original enemy types, more personalities and a new cast of characters with untold stories.

The new video above, while showcasing how the Terror Tribe earn their name, also showcases a few other gems. There’s a lot more variety in armor, some sort of physical (opposed to Talion’s more ethereal one) brand on the forehead of some Orcs, and two very long chain weapons being wielded by one of the tribe. It’ll be interesting to see how those play out in combat – Shadow Strike may be the best way in on that one.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War (which won in several categories at E3, including overall Best of Show) will be available for Xbox One X, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro beginning October 10, 2017, with a mobile version on iOS and Android also coming this Fall.

As a side note…if you were inclined to cosplay as a member of the Terror Tribe…well, the team has you covered there too.  Time to start hammering out armor!
