In our earlier interview this year with Will Shick from Atomic Mass Games, he mentioned that Marvel Crisis Protocol would be a way to introduce some fringe characters to players...the announcements at the GAMA Expo prove that and more, as AMG has announced some new character packs for this year alongside a Starter Pack, which looks like to be a way to get new players onboard with familiar faces.
As reported by /u/disorder1991 on the Marvel Crisis Protocol subreddit, the Starter Pack features the classic 90s lineup of X-Men, along with all of the character cards, team tactic cards, measuring tools, and dice needed to play, and being positioned at a lower price point, available in October of 2025. In my opinion, this is a great move, as this allows a new player to easily jump right into the game without buying a core set.

Next are the various product reveals that focus on some obscure characters anchored by a core character. Magneto's forces appear as Avalanche, Lady Mastermind, and a personal favorite, Exodus. A pack themed of some more of the street-level heroes appears with Echo, Tigra, and Ronin (Clint Barton) . Lastly, Phoenix and Phoenix "Unleashed" are also appearing as a character pack, seemingly similar to other characters that have a "transformation" power.
These packs all are targeting a June release date, so we'll probably get a deeper look at Adepticon.
I'm excited to see how these characters play out in the game, I can already picture that Avalanche will have terrain disrupting powers, Mastermind can control other models, Ronin will have both range and melee, and Phoenix...well, she's gonna be fairly overpowered. As she should be.
