One of the challenges around miniature wargaming has always been setting up the battlefield terrain. Mantic now has a new line of TerrainCreate Battlefields, looking to help alleviate that problem:
Mantic Games has announced the next phase of its long‑running TerrainCrate range, beginning with the reveal of TerrainCrate Battlefields: a curated range of wargaming scenery designed for fast, easy, and great-looking tabletops across any game system.
Perhaps the best example of all these values combined is the new Fantasy Battlefield Pack. Designed to fill a standard 6x4ft battlefield straight out of the box, this set combines pre‑assembled plastic terrain, flat‑topped hills, pre-coloured buildings and terrain templates. No specialist hobby skills are required, making this solution particularly appealing to both new and veteran players, event organisers and gaming groups looking for a terrain package suitable across all 28-32mm fantasy games.

Several of these elements are also available separately, including the new single-piece plastic hills, which Mantic expects to be popular across a very wide range of both scales and genres. From usage as hills at 28-32mm scale, to strategic plateaus for epic-scale games, and even islands for naval battles, these detailed new plastic hills are perfect for an incredibly versatile range of games.
The company has also branched out into its first card buildings for fantasy settings, following the success of the Halo Universe card terrain sets that debuted within Mantic’s best-selling Halo Flashpoint range. The new fantasy set contains a chapel, stone cottage, and three-storey-townhouse. All these buildings are easy-to-assemble, pre-coloured, and fit once again with the TerrainCrate ethos of high visual impact without relying on any advanced or time-consuming hobby skills to get them on the table.

TerrainCrate is also known for its range of full-colour, non-slip neoprene gaming mats available in a range of popular styles and sizes. The range includes Fantasy, Hellscape, Snowfield and Jungle-themed mats, all of which provide hobbyists or gaming clubs with a collection of exciting and story-inspiring locations to battle across.

“TerrainCrate has always been about bringing tabletops to life, and as easily as possible for players,” said Dan Mapleston of Mantic Games. “With everything from 6x4ft neoprene mats to detailed scatter terrain, and now plastic hills and new buildings, TerrainCrate has become the one-stop range for any hobbyist wanting to easily level up their gaming table.”
This launch marks the first phase of a broader refresh for TerrainCrate, with new packaging set to appear at retail as a rolling change from the end of May 2026 onwards. Mantic has also teased that following on from Battlefields, a similarly revamped TerrainCrate Dungeons range is also coming later in the year with a strong focus on fantasy role-playing games.

TerrainCrate Battlefields is available to order now via Mantic Games and participating retailers.
