London 2012 Brings the Olympics to Your Living Room

We gamers aren’t exactly known for athleticism, but I’m pretty sure I could compete in this year’s Olympics— in video game form, that is. London 2012 is the official video game of the 2012 Summer Olympics, and a series of new flythrough videos released today show how the developers are trying to bring the most authentic experience possible to the game. Just because we can’t all be in the Olympics doesn’t mean we can’t play a game that makes us feel like we are.

For Sega Studios Australia, creating London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games was a labor of love; a search for an authentic experience of all the exhilaration and moments of glory that make the real-life games so special. As examples of this passion, the several new flythrough videos demonstrate the developer’s keen eye for detail in design.

The videos below, showing off the main Olympic Stadium and the Velodrome as portrayed in the game, are only two of the several flythroughs released. For more, visit the game’s official website.

Breanna has been gaming since infancy, if gnawing on an unattended controller counts as playing a game. One of the younger members of the Gaming Trend family, she dabbled in PC games as a kid but wasn't fully consumed by the hobby until the sixth generation of consoles. Now an avid PC and console gamer, she looks forward to the day when she can scape together enough cash to join the next gen club.

In the last week of middle school, a math teacher taught her how to program a calculator; she was pretty much hooked then and there. Currently working towards a degree in Computer Science and Applied Math, Breanna hope to someday make games instead of just writing about them. Other hobbies include playing guitar, binge-watching Netflix, and cooking delicious food.
